Ceramic Restoration

We use a conservationist approach to ceramic restoration, as well as other modalities such as stone, wood and marble from cleaning antiques pieces to repair of broken items to full invisible restoration.
The conservation approach assures repairs and restorations cause no further harm to the piece. Ceramic Restoration is more than using and adhesive material to put a piece together, it is the art of making it look as though it were never damaged should that level of restoration be desired.

During deconstruction this Davenport Amoy serving dish finial revealed that the previous repair (which was old) was done by drilling and inserting a screw for stabilization.
Today such repairs are more easily attained without such damage due to a new age of stronger and non-yellowing adhesives. The screw was left in situe rather than damage this beautiful cover.

The English paints and Glaze we use to finish your project is used by few Ceramic restoration studios. It is a 2 Part Epoxy System. The Glaze system has been specially developed for the re-glazing of repairs on china, ceramics porcelains etc. It cures to a tough; almost glass hard finish, which has excellent non-yellowing characteristics. This Glaze is the latest and most advance system of its type and has been approved by museums for restoration work. It is simple to mix and use, and can be easily mixed with powder pigments and oil colors to repaint patterns. It can be applied either by bristle brush or by airbrush and can be sanded and buffed once fully cured. It has excellent water resistance and has been tested for 20 cycles in a dishwasher at 60°C (140°F) without signs of deterioration.*
