$192.00 + shipping
Twelve Matching Cup Plates in the New Wharf Dunbarton Pattern. The New Wharf Pottery Co. operated in Burslem, Staffordshire, England from 1878 to 1894. It subsequently became part of Wood & Sons. This mark was used between 1890 and 1894. The Dunbarton pattern is a delicate flow blue transferware with a gold rim. The pattern alternates smaller and larger deep blue leafy designs. These butter plates are 4 7/8 ” in diameter. The gold trim is maintained well throughout the group. They are really in Excellent shape, clean and clear. I have the sugar bowl to this set if you are interested.

The cup and saucer are not included...only shown for size comparison.
Cup plates completed 17th Century tea sets. One would serve tea in a cup (in many sets there were handleless cups), let it cool somewhat and pour the tea in the saucer. (This is why the saucers were so deep). Then the cups would be placed in the cup plate after dumping the remains of tea leaves at the bottom of the cup into the waste bowl and drink the tea from the saucer.

Today many folks use these cup plates for water glasses etc, in place of a coaster.
